PMK woman aspirant attempts suicide

Kancheepuram, Sep 26 (UNI) A 30-year-old woman aspirant for Kazhakattur councillor post was admitted to hospital this morning after she reportedly consumed sleeping pills after her efforts to contest the local body elections on a PMK ticket failed.

Police said Ms Vasanthi, the treasurer of the PMK Kancheepuram Panchayat Unit, attempted suicide after her application to secure a ticket from the party failed.

She was admitted to the Kancheepuram Government Hospital for treatment.

Kancheepuram MLA Shakti Kamalambal rushed to the hospital and asked the doctors to provide the best treatment to Ms Vasanthi.
