Nine Dengue deaths in Delhi so far

New Delhi, Sep 26 (UNI) As many as nine people have died due to Dengue in Delhi so far and the total number of cases reported has risen to 327.

Delhi Health Minister Yoganand Shastri said this week 127 cases were reported out of which 68 cases were from Delhi and the rest from outside.

''Of the nine dead people three are from Delhi and six from other states,'' Dr Shastri said after a meeting on water and vector borne diseases.

Last week, the dengue death toll was seven and the total number of cases reported was 200.

Expressing concern over the spread of the disease in the capital, the Health Minister said the administration and the citizens should work hand-in-hand to control the situation.

He appealed to Ram Leela Sangathans to help MCD staff create awareness about the disease.

''The coming months of October and November could be crucial, since these months are ideal for breeding of Adese mosquitoes, which spreads dengue,'' he added.

While in Shahdra (North) 11 case were reported, 12 cases were reported from Shahdra (South). The West Zone reported 10 cases of dengue and the Central Zone seven.

In Rohini Zone a total of 1,200 places of mosquito breeding were detected. In NDMC area also more than 21,000 houses were inspected and 57 notices served. Six challans were also issued.
