Neyveli's lignite production rises marginally

New Delhi, Sep 26 (UNI) Tamil Nadu-based public sector Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) improved its operation marginally during the month of June this year.

NLC produced 18.69 lakh tonnes (LT) of lignite as against the target of 18 LT. The gross power generation by the company during the month stood at 1,425.68 million units (MU) as against the target of 1397 MU, according to data available by the Ministry of Coal.

NLC, a Miniratna company produced 20.43 MT lignite during the year 2005-06 and 21.57 MT during the year 2004-05. It is now implementing the expansion of its Mine - II and Thermal Power Station - II at a cost of Rs 4,192.06 crore.
