National Schools Cricket in Oct

Lucknow, Sep 26 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh, winner of the National C K Naidyu (U-19) and Runners up of the Vinoo Mankad (U-16) trophy, will stake a strong claim for the forthcoming National Schools Cricket Championship to be held in Sirsa (Bihar) in the third week of October.

The event would be organised by the Schools Games Federation of India.

Chief selector Ahmad Ullah Khan said 16-member teams would be selected after rigourous trials of about 500 boys from 17 divisions of UP.

This year, the selection would be held on trial basis instead of state championships, which were not held due to paucity of time as the national championship was round the corner.

Co-ordinator and District Inspector of Schools Vikas Srivastava said the last edition was held in Agra.
