Narcotics seized in Jammu, five arrested
Jammu, Sep 26 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police has recovered one kg heroin, 10 kg charas and 18 kg of poppy in three separate raids in the Jammu division and arrested five persons in this connection.
Police sources said acting on a tip off, a police party raided Hatli Morh on Jammu-Pathankot national highway in Kathua district and arrested three people with one kg heroin, worth Rs one crore in the international market.
The trio has been booked under NDPS Act and one of them was identified as Sharief Mmohammad, sources added.
In another incident, a police party intercepted a Delhi-bound truck carrying apples at Chanderkote in Doda last night and seized 10 kg of charas from it. The driver Ali Mohammad, resident of Qazigund area in Anantnag district, was arrested for smuggling narcotics and the truck was also seized, sources said.
The police also recovered 18 kg of poppy from another truck owned by one Gurmeet Singh on the highway at Jajarkotli in Udhampur. Last night, a girl who was allegedly kidnapped by Gurmeet's brother Jagjeet two weeks ago, was also rescued. Gurmeet was arrested and the truck was seized. Police has also launched a hunt to nab Jagjeet.
