Narcotic haul in Jammu; two held
Jammu, Sept 26: The Jammu and Kashmir police have recovered ten kg of charas, worth Rs 10 lakh in the international market, and 18 kg of poppy from two trucks on national highway and arrested two people in this connection.
Police sources told sources that ten kg of charas was seized from a Delhi-bound truck carrying apples at Chanderkote in Doda last night, after a police party intercepted the vehicle and searched it.
Truck driver Ali Mohammad, a resident of Qazigund in Anantnag, was arrested for smuggling narcotics. The truck was also confiscated, sources said.
The police also recovered 18 kg of poppy from another truck, owned by one Gurmeet Singh, on the highway at Jajarkotli in Udhampur last night. Gurmeet was arrested and the truck seized.
