NAFED receives 43,862 tonnes of pulses
New Delhi, Sep 26 (UNI) India's nodal agency NAFED has so far received 43,862 tonnes of pulses of the contracted quantity of 49,300 tonnes at Chennai, making 90 per cent of the total quantity.
The total availability comprises 33,924 tonnes of urad and 9,938 tonnes of moong.
NAFED has also disposed of 23,788 tonnes of urad and 2,409 tonnes of moong at Chennai, Bangalore, Indore, Lucknow and Jaipur at average prices of Rs 33.32 and Rs 30.2 per kg respectively.
The remaining 10 per cent of the contracted quantity of urad and moong is expected to be shipped within this week.
NAFED will be selling 2,300 tonnes of pulses comprising 1,400 tonnes of urad and 1,000 tonnes of moong at Delhi.
The production of coarse cereals during 2005-06 at 34.67 million tonnes is higher than the production of 33.46 million tonnes last year.
The production estimate of pulses for 2005-06 is 13.11 million tonnes against 13.13 million tonnes in 2004-05, according to an official release here today.
