MTNL posts seven per cent increase in profits
New Delhi, Sep 26 (UNI) Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) today said that it has posted a seven per cent rise in profits at Rs 58.02 crore despite the downward revision of domestic and international long distance tariffs.
The shareholders in the AGM have approved dividend at the rate of 40 per cent for the accounting year ended 31st March, 2006.
The overall customer base went up from 51,53,483 in March'05 to 59,24,428 in March 2006. As on August 2006, MTNL recorded subscriber base at 61,28,519.
The other income of Rs 49.17 crore in FY 2004-05 has also gone up to Rs 53 crore in the current FY with an increase of Rs 3.82 crore, a rise of 7.79 per cent.
MTNL added a whopping 10,59,459 subscribers to already 8,81,696 recorded as on March 31, 2005 raising it to 19,41,155 as on March 31, 2006.
The income from mobile services has also gone up almost two fold from Rs 277.07 crore to Rs 572.66 crore during the current year, it was revealed after the AGM of the company here.
