Maharashtra leaders whipping up passions: Yediyurappa
Belgaum, Sep 26 (UNI) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa today alleged on the floor of the Legislative Council that the leaders of Maharashtra were whipping up passions of people of the State.
Responding to a special mention moved by Congress member Prabhakar Kore on the issue, he said Kannadigas and their leaders never behaved like their Maharashtra counterparts.
''Let us take an all-party delegation to the Centre and discuss the issue with the Prime Minister. This is all happening because the Centre did not implement the Mahajan Commission report (on the border row between the two States), which is its responsiblity. Let there not be anything that split the relationship between Kannadigas and Marathi-speaking people.'' Mr Kore insisted on booking a case against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil, who delivered a provocative speech in Belgaum yesterday. When the Government could book a case against former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti, why not Mr Patil, he asked.
Intervening, Revenue Minister Jagadish Shettar said Ms Bharti's case was different from the present one.
