Indian Water Polo, Diving team to have foreign coaches
Bangalore, Sep 26 (UNI) India is making efforts to hire foreign coaches to hone the skills of the Water Polo and Diving team ahead of the 2010 Commonwealth Games, Swimming Federation of India (SFI) Secretary Gen Virendra Nanavati said today.
Talking to newspersons here, he said the Western Australia Sports Minister had agreed to send a coach to train the Indian Water Polo team for the Commonwealth Games. About 30 men and an equal number of women polo players have been identified to be trained under the foreign coach.
Gen Nanavati said that if the proposal for a foreign coach for diving was cleared by the Centre, there was a possibility of the coach arriving before the World Military Games, scheduled to be held in Hyderabad next month.
To a question, he said it was also proposed to have a foreign coach for swimming. The proposal was subject to clearance from the Ministry as it required huge finance.
