IED Defused, major tradedy averted
Undhampur, Sep 26(UNI) Security forces averted a major tragedy by neutralising an Improvised Explosive Device(IED), containing eight Kg explosive, in Udhmapur district of Jammu and Kashmir today.
Defences sources told UNI that IED was reportedly planted by three izb-ul-Mujahideen militants namely Ajaz Ahmed, Mumtaz Ahmed and Riaz Ahmed. They were all residents of remote villages under Gul police station.
IED was detected by the explosive detection dogs of Road Opening Party (ROP) of Army at around 0930 hrs while clearing the rubble of landslide between Sungal Dan-Gul road.
IED ,weighing around 12 Kg, was packed in plastic container and could have caused a major tragedy. It was neutralised later on by the special squade of the Army ,sources added.
