IBM holds EXITE camp for Xi class students
Bangalore, Sep 25 (UNI) IBM India Limited today commenced a five day EX.I.T.E (EXploring Interests in Technology and Engineering) camp for 35 class nine girls from three schools in the city.
A tremendously popular initiative with the students, EX.I.T.E camps are an innovative way to introduce girl students in their teens to the wonder and promise of technical careers so that they continue taking the math and science classes that would position them for future careers in these fields.
The girls would work in teams with IBM employee volunteers on innovation projects allowing them to realise the wealth of ideas and talents they possess that could make a difference in various aspects of science and technology.
Each camp would document its innovations by creating a three-dimensional model, blueprint or presentation. The campers would get a chance to present their innovations to local IBM volunteers and executives who would in turn provide feedback.
The camps were held in cooperation with 3 schools in Bangalore.
The students were nominated by their teachers and guidance counselors. IBM hosts the camps, with no charge to those selected to attend.
