Hyundai launches mid-sized sedan 'Verna'

Mumbai, Sep 26 (UNI) Korean car giant Hyundai Motor India has rolled out an all new mid-sized sedan, 'Verna' for the upwardly young and stylish mobile class at a glittering ceremony here last evening.

The new sedan, available in three petrol versions, is priced at X- Rs 6.52 lakh, XI - Rs 6.67 lakh and XXI - Rs 7.27 lakh receptively, while the diesel version VGT is priced at Rs 7.71 lakh.

Available in nine different colours to the Indian customers, the sedan boasts of the latest engine technology imported from Korea.

The 1.6 litre gasoline engine of 'Verna' uses the Variable Timing Valve Technology (VTVT), which lends the engine flexibility of valve timing on load and speed conditions.

In case of the diesel model, the VGT technology adds to the Common Rail Direct Injection(CRDi) technology to the advantage of a intercooled Turbocharger. In addition to the powerful engines, the body offers high torsional rigidity which results in reduced body roll and enhanced stability during high speed cornering.

Speaking on the occasion, Hyundai Motors Managing Director H S Lheem said, ђIn last few years, the mid-size segment for cars in India has become very exciting, due to a clear vertical split in the largest growing segment of the market.'' He also pointed that a recent study also revealed the fact how car owners gradually upgrade their choice to a big car in the course of time.

Lheem further added that the economic growth, coupled with higher disposable income has turned India into a global hotspot for prospective auto manufacturers. Thus, Hyundai Motors recognizes the potential and merit of Indian customers and their needs.

Indian customers are critical and are appreciative of technology and value for money when they buy cars. So, keeping the Indian clientele in mind, 'Verna' has been designed exclusively to fulfill India's own much wanted mid-size car, he added.

Incidentally, Hyundai motors is the second largest car manufacturer in the country and the largest exporter of the same.

Hyundai made its presence in 1998 with 'Santro' a roving success, after which 'Accent' Elantra' 'Sonata and other models followed.

The new 'Verna' is the sixth generation car with a smooth European style, said Arvind Saxena, Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Hyundai Motors and added that the car would directly open a challenge to the existing models of Aveo, Fiesta and Honda City in the Indian market.

Declining to comment on the sale strategies, he said special attention was given on the suspension, air conditioning and horn for 'Verna'. The car will also be exported to overseas market without any change to make it a global car, added Saxena.
