Heavy rains lash Kerala
Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 26 (UNI) Heavy rainfall lashed most parts of Kerala and Lakshwadeep, even as the South West monsoon continued to be vigorous in the region.
The local Met office said Varkala recorded the highest rainfall of 11 cm, followed by Enamakkal (10 cm), Thiruvananthapuram Airport and Kannara (9 cm each) and Thrissur (8 cm).
Chief amounts of rainfall in other areas was Alapuzzha, Karipur Airport, Kollam and Mavelikara (6 cm each) and Kochi, Chalakudy, Kunnamkulam, Chertala and Koilandi (5 cm each).
The met office said isolated heavy rainfall would lash many places in Kerala and Lakshwadeep in the next 48 hours.
It also warned of strong onshore winds from the north westerly direction with speeds reaching 45-55 Kmph along and off Kerala Coast.
