Govt mulling legal action against traders

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 26 (UNI) Kerala Finance Minister T M Thomas Issac today informed the state Assembly that the state government was planning to initiate legal action against traders, if they refused to issue bills to consumers.

Replying to a submission by Mr C K P Padmanabhan (CPI-M), he said if required, necessary amendments would be made to the Finance Bill, in this regard.

As per the Bill, traders registered under the VAT, have to issue bills to conumsers on every purcahse.

Mr Thomas said the state government had received complaints that some traders refused to issue bills.
