Eight sentenced to imprisonment in Fodder case
Ranchi, Sep 26 (UNI) A special CBI court today announced the sentence of eight people, including four former officials and four suppleirs of Animal Husbandry Department, in a case of the multi-crore rupee fodder scam.
Judge Sanjay Prasad today sentenced H N Verma, Shardendu Kumar, Bajrang Dev Narayan and Dineswar Mistri--all officials--to six years of rigourous imprisonment.
Besides, the court fined Mr Verma Rs 1,80,00, Shardendu and Dineswar Rs 1, 10,000 each and Bajrang Dev Narayan Rs two lakh failure of which would mean one year of additional imprisonment.
The suppliers, Mahendra Prasad and Lal Prasad, were given four years of rigorous imprisonment, while Tripurai Mohan Prasad and Venu Jha were sentenced to three years imprisonment.
A chargesheet was filed against twelve people in this case of whom one was absconding, while two died during the trial.
On September 23, the CBI court convicted 28 accused, including a former Regional Director of Animal Husbandry Department, in a case of the multi-crore rupee fodder scam.
Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and Former Chief Minister of Bihar Jagganath Mishra were among the accused in the case.
