Dharna site submerged, stir goes on
Harda, MP, Sep 26 (UNI) A total of 26 villagers, including 23 women, continued dharna on the fifth day today despite the dharna site at Karnapur village coming under submergence of backwaters of the Indira Sagar dam on the Narmada river.
''The agitators, who began the strike on Friday, were sitting in two feet deep water as the rising dam water level touched 257.55 metre'', official report said.
They were demanding release of rehabilitation and transport allowance totalling Rs 5.46 crore for the displaced families of five villages in Harda district.
District Collector Bharat Kumar Vyas, who visited the spot yesterday, failed to persuade the villagers to lift the dharna.
