Country acheives high Coal production in August
New Delhi, Sep 26 (UNI) The total coal produced in the country during August this year was higher at 27.22 million tonnes (MT) as against 25.51 MT produced during the same period last year.
According to data released by the Ministry of Coal here today, the public sector Coal India Limited (CIL) and the south India -based joint venture company Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), during the month of August, 2006 together produced an estimated 27.22 MT.
This indicates a growth of about 6.70 per cent. The target set for these two companies for the month was 29.43 MT. During the month CIL and SCCL despatched 21.37 MT coal to power sector.
During the month, e-marketing was conducted in all the coal producing companies of CIL and 2.04 MT of coal was allocated for e-auction. 1,613 bidders were successful out of 2,146 participating bidders and the average gain over the average notified price was 33.6 per cent and that of floor price was 10.8 per cent.
