Consumer court issues warrant against UTI Executive Director

Puri, Sep 25 (UNI) The Puri Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has issued warrants against the executive director of UTI in Bhubaneswar for his failure to comply an earlier order of the forum.

One Krushna Chandra Meher and his wife had purchased 9000 shares with the face value of Rs 10 in 1996 through a local UTI agent. They sold the shares in 1999 to the UTI against a total value of Rs 9439.

But since then they had been running from pillar to post to get their money from the UTI.

The couple then raised the issue in the forum in 2004. The Consumer Forum, after hearing the UTI agent and the parties in April 2005, had directed the UTI authorities to pay the sum within one month with 12 per cent interest and imposed a fine of Rs 2000 besides Rs 500 towards the cost of the litigation.

The UTI, however, did not comply the order forcing the couple to knock the door of the Consumer Forum to execute the proceedings.
