Congress organises awareness campaign on HIV/AIDS

Imphal, Sep 26 (UNI) To meet the challenges of the increasing number of HIV/AIDS cases in Manipur, the Congress has started a campaign to create awareness among the people.

The Manipur State AIDS Control Society, in collaboration with the Media Department of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee, organised a day-long deliberations on the issue yesterday.

The Congress workers resolved that they would participate in the action plan of the Congress party to fight against the dreaded disease.

It resolved that the Manipur government should urge to persue the programmes under the Manipur State AIDS Policy more vigorously by way of constituting the Legislative Forum for HIV/AIDS etc.

Vice-President of the MPCC T Mangibabu Singh stressed the need for more involvement of the party workers in the fight against HIV/AIDS and assured that the Congress Party would work more in the field in the line of the firm commitment given by UK- A1CC President, Sonia Gandhi.

Presiding over the function, the party General Secretary Vidyapati Senjam said he would propose an action plan for involvement of party workers in the struggle against HIV/AIDS. Dr Khomdon Lisam, Dr H.Priyokumar Singh and Dr N G Brajachand Singh spoke on various aspects of HIV/AIDS.
