CESC to provide highest number of puja connections

Kolkata, Sep 26 (UNI) Power utility major CESC this year is expecting to provide temporary power connections to more than 2,900 puja pandals, the highest ever in its history.

CESC executive director D K Sen said the number of connections in the previous year was 2724.

The company would offer 8 per cent lower tariff rate for the temporary connections, Sen said.

The company estimates the power consumption in puja pandals this year in the region of three million units, which is about 7 per cent higher than 2.78 million units last year.

CESC would also launch a special drive against pilferage and unauthorised connections during the puja days.
