Centre yet to act on Sri Lankan Tamils issue: Karunanidhi

Chennai, Sep 26 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today regretted that the Sri Lankan Tamils issue remained a ''question mark'' as the Centre was yet to act on it.

Asked about the deteriorating situation in the Tamil areas in Sri Lanka and what the Centre should do on the issue, Mr Karunanidhi, talking to newspersons at party headquarters, said it remained a question mark.

''The Centre is yet to answer to this question. Let us hope the Union Government will come out with an answer,'' he said.

Mr Karunanidhi denied reports that some Sri Lankan Tamil MPs tried to meet him. ''Neither they tried to meet me nor met me,'' he said.

''It is pure escapism,'' he said when pointed out that the MPs have said that they were trying to meet him. ''No one has contacted me for the meeting,'' he said and dismissed as hypothetical whether he would meet them if they sought an appointment.
