BSNL posts 23.69 per increase in operating profit
New Delhi, Sep 26 (UNI) Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) today said it has posted an increase in operating profit at Rs 8,270 crore, a rise of 23.69 per cent.
Net profit was Rs 8,940 crore on a revenue of Rs 40,177 crore for the year 2005-06. The company has registered a net increase of 11.13 per cent in revenue during the year.
BSNL also declared a dividend of Rs 1,175 crore which is inclusive of interim dividend of Rs 375 crore for the fiscal year 2005-06, the largest telecom company in the country said after its AGM.
The company has invested Rs 8,892 crore in its expansion of the telecom network and new addition of telephone lines during the last financial year.
BSNL also plans to invest Rs 17,000 crore to expand its network during the current financial year with focus on mobile phones and a 60 million tender for GSM lines has been floated by the company.
