BKU to hold meeting tomorrow on agrarian crisis

Chandigarh, Sep 26 (UNI) The Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), will hold a meeting here tomorrow to highlight demands of the farmers of Punjab and chalk out a strategy in view of the state government's role in resolving the present agrarian crisis.

The meeting will focus on various issues including allocation of agricultural land to big industrial houses, heavy indebtedness among the farmers, poor socio-economic conditions of farmers, non-remunerative prices for the agricultural produce, no market for cash crops, ground water depletion and other geographical changes.

''These issues would be on the agenda of various speakers at the session,'' BKU general secretary Balbir Singh Rajewal here said.
