Air show to enthrall Mysore Dasara tourists
Mysore, Sep 26 (UNI) The famous Dasara celebrations here will reach a new high when Jaguars, MiG 21s, Dorniers and AN 32 aircraft of the Indian Air Force will whiz past the Bannimantap grounds in a full fledged air show on September 28.
Fighter planes and helicopters of the IAF, along with training planes, would set the skies ablaze with its breathtaking aerobatics during a rehearsal tomorrow.
Deputy Commissioner and Dasara Special Officer Selva Kumar told newspersons here today that the two-hour show would feature the basic Kiran aircraft, which would fly at a low altitude with a deafening noise. Jaguar and MiG 21, the main stay of the IAF, would be the star attractions, flying at nearly 1,000 kmph and performing vertical and horizontal manoeuvring 500 feet above the ground.
Transport and communication aircraft, AN 32 and Dornier, noted for the 'small boy formation', would fly past the dais at 400 ft above the ground.
The grand finale would be provided by professional paratroopers 'Akash Ganga' and the 14-member team would be airdropped from a height of over 10,000 ft.
He said the air show was being organised for the third time by the district administration. The IAF was surprised at the overwhelming response received by the previous air shows here and hence it was decided to host a full-fledged show for Dasara. The aerobatics might inspire the youngsters to take up a career in aviation or the IAF, he added.
