31 accused acquitted on benefit of doubt

Dumka, Sep 26 (UNI) A local court today acquitted 31 people, giving them benefit of doubt in a case of clash between people and local police on March 17, 2000.

Additional sessions Judge(fourth) Ganpati Tiwary acquitted all the 31 accused present in the court today.

According to the prosecution, a case was registerd by Mr Rajkumar, the then officer-in-charge of town police station against 32 people, including local journalists and advocates, charging them with provoking people, who were present on the spot.

Altogether 32 people were made accused. Of them one died during trial.
