Writs against Reliance SEZ
Chandigarh, Sep 25 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court today adjourned to September 29 the hearing on the writ petition challenging the recent enactment of law by the Union government as also the Haryana government providing for creation of special economic zones.
Conducting a hearing on the petition, filed by Indian National Lok Dal secretary general Ajay Singh Chautala, MP, the court's division bench comprising Justices Surinder Singh Nijjar and Surinder Singh Saron directed that the matter be taken up along with the petition filed by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) general secretary and former minister Capt.Kanwaljit Singh and other SAD MLAs for directions to quash the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed by the Punjab government with the Reliance Industries Limited(RIL) for setting up SEZ on September 29.
The petitioners against the Punjab-RIL agreement have alleged blatant violation of land allotment policy whereas the Haryana petitioners have opted to oppose the law on SEZ.
