Two cases of chain snatching registered in Mumbai

Mumbai, Sep 25 (UNI) City police here have registered two cases of chain snatching during last 24 hours in the metropolis.

According to a complaint lodged with the Vakola police by Ms Grashi Bebiyar (55), a housewife, was on her way to home from Kalina Church, Santacruz at around 1735 hrs yesterday, when two bicycle riders came from behind and snatched her gold chain and mangalsutra weighing 60 gms, worth Rs 56,000 and ran away, police said here today.

In another incident at Chembur at around 2030 hrs yesterday, complainant Sarswati Rammurthi (52), was on her way to home after visiting the Sharda Devi temple near Blue Diamond Society in Chembur, when three persons came in an auto-rickshaw and snatched her gold chain worth Rs 12,000 and started running. On hearing the shout 'chor chor', passers-by chased and nabbed the three and later handed them over to police.

The arrested accused persons are identified as Kausan Khan (21), Ramchandra alias Rinku Pathak (22), and Mohammed Hussain alias Munna Amir Sheikh (30).

Vakola and Chembur police have registered cases of chain snatching and further investigations are on, police added.
