Two arrested, diamonds worth Rs 12 cr recovered in AP
Hyderabad, Sep 25 (UNI) The city police today recovered diamonds and precious stones worth Rs 12.35 crore from Mohammed Shahid Khan and Sabir Ali Khan, two profesional offenders belonging to Delhi.
Addressing a press conference here, city Police Commissioner P K Mahanty said the Begumpet police had recovered the diamonds from the accused and arrested them.
Jaipur based Ravi Pandya came to the city on August 24 and stayed in a hotel. He had brought 16 items of diamonds and precious stone-jewellery worth Rs 12.35 crore on Shahid Khan's request to sell them to Sabir Ali Khan, who was introduced as a candidate likely to be made Governor of Karnataka.
The accused took all items from Mr Pandya and made him believe that the cash was ready at New Delhi. He would accompany him to Delhi and hand over the entire amount there. The two accused left the hotel and disappeared.
The two accused confessed to have committed the offence, the Commissioner said.
