TNCC buys peace with Sudarsanam
Chennai, Sep 25 (UNI) In an apparent bid to buy truce with Senior Congress leader D Sudarsanam who had questioned the unilateral appointment of District Election Committee members, the TNCC today decided to make some changes in the list.
Addressing a joint press conference with Mr Sudarsanam, TNCC President M Krishnasamy said there were no differences in the party and that one or two changes would be made in District Election Committee list released by him.
The changes would be done with the consent of the Party High Command, he said.
The committee will hold discussions with the district leaders with regard to the ensuing local bodies poll.
Mr Sudarsanam, the Congress Legislature Party leader and a staunch supporter of Union Minister G K Vasan, had accused the TNCC Chief of violating the AICC fiat with regard to the formation of the District level committees for selection of candidates for the ensuing local bodies poll in Tamil Nadu, bringing to fore the differences within the Party.
Mr Sudarsanam had said that the CWC member Veerappa Moily, in-charge of party affairs in the state, had clearly stated in his letter that the committees should be consituted in consultation with him, but the TNCC President had unilaterally constituted them.
This amounted to rebelling against the high-command, Mr Sudharsanam said and demanded that the committee should be disbanded.
Mr Krishnasamy said the seat sharing talks were on with the DMK, which is heading the DPA and said it would be in line with the expectations of the Party workers. The seat sharing for the local bodies would be finalised by tonight, he added. To a question, Mr Krishnasamy said importance would be given to women members to contest the polls.
Mr Krishnasamy said, he and other senior leaders, including Mr Sudarsanam, K V Thangabalu and Jayakumar, MLA, met AICC members Ahmed Patel and Veerappa Moily at New Delhi yesterday and held discussions.
He warned of stern action against those violating party discipline, and jump into the electoral fray against the official candidate of the party.
