SW Monsoon vigorous in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 25 (UNI) Almost all parts of Kerala received heavy rainfall under the influence of a low pressure area even as the the South West monsoon remained vigorous over the state.

The local weather office today said the low pressure area was located in Kerala Coast off the Arabian Sea and it was favourable for the state to get good rainfall.

According to local weather office, very light rainfall occurred in Lakshadweep.

Aluva and Enamakkal received the maximum rainfall of 16 cm each, followed by Kunnamkulam (15), Mavelikkara (13), Kozha (12) and Chalakkudy, CIAL Kochi, Perumbavoor and Piravam (10 cm each).

The other chief amounts of rainfall reported in cm were Nedumangad and Thrissur (9), Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram City (8), Kochi Kumarakam, Neyyattinkara, Varkala and Tiruvalla (7) each.

Heavy rainfall or thundershowers would occur in almost all places in the state and very few places in Lakshadweep, it said.
