Sushma asks PM to explain Gen's statement on Kashmir

Indore, Sep 25 (UNI) BJP spokesperson and former Union minister Sushma Swaraj today sought an explanation from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh about the basis for the confidence with which Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf spoke of an early solution to the Kashmir issue.

''The Premier ought to take the natuion into confidence. He should make the proposal, if any, public,'' she told reporters here.

Reacting to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi describing Jainism as a limb of Hinduism, Ms Swaraj said the statement was not unconstitutional as the Constitution notes Jainism, Buddhism and Sikhism as offshoots of Hinduism.

This morning, the BJP leader garlanded a statue of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya on the latter's birth anniversary.
