SPO killed by landmine
Jagdalpur, Sep 25 (UNI) A Special Police Officer was killed on the spot in a landmine blast triggered by naxals in Chhattisgarh's south Bastar region today, police said.
A foot patrol, including personnel from Dantewara district, was heading for Bijapur from Cherpal when the explosion occurred near Bhogamguda killing SPO Ramprasad. A crossfire ensued. The officer's corpse was brought to Bijapur.
Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Mahendra Karma addressed a 'Salwa Judum' (Peace Mission) meeting at Basaguda where he said that a fresh strategy would be adopted against the rebels.
''The ultras are terrified of 'Salwa Judum' and will have to flee the region,'' he said in the presence of senior police officers.
