Re-design Polavaram Project: Expert

Rajahmundry, Sept 25: Irrigation and Environmental Specialist Professor T Sivaji Rao demanded that the government should re-design the Polavaram Project keeping in view of the increase in water-level during the recent floods.

Talking to newspersons here yesterday, Mr Rao alleged that no proper risk analysis and environment impact analysis were done for the project and the irrigation officials were misleading the government.

He said if proper ratifications were not made, in future, the water level would increase much further creating more damage.

The project would submerge more than 400 villages, he added.
