New integrated terminal complex in Vizag airport
Visakhapatnam, Sep 25 (UNI) Union Minister for Civil Aviation Praful Patel today laid the foundation stone for the new integrated terminal building complex in the Visakhapatnam airport.
Addressing the gathering here, he said with this complex the long pending demand of North coastal Andhra Pradesh would be a reality very soon.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) had taken up the construction of new integrated terminal building complex at a cost of Rs 95 crore. The new building, with an area of 20,200 sq metre, would be centrally air-conditioned and all the modern passenger amenities, including boarding bridge with visual docking guidance system, escalators, lifts, conveyor belts in the arrival and departure halls and spacious car parking area to accommodate more than 600 cars would be developed, he added.
He mentioned the need for speeding up the project which would greatly help the development of the steel plant in the city, Visakhapatnam port city, HSL, BHPV, HPCL and other industries in the region.
He said that 90 per cent of the runway expansion work was completed and the remaining ten per cent would be completed by February.
