Madhya Pradesh Panchayat bypoll in Nov-Dec

Bhopal, Sept 25: The Madhya Pradesh State Election Commission has decided to hold byelections to fill up vacant seats in the panchayats in November and December this year.

The general election will also be held simultaneously in the newly formed gram panchayats and those panchayats where election was held in 2001, official sources said today.

The Commission has issued directives to the district collectors and district election officers to conduct a voter list verification.

Workers for the verification of voters list will be appointed on October 3, while the proforma of voters list will be prepared by October 14.

The Voters list printing will be completed by October 30, while the places and date to enable people to verify their names in the list will be notified on October 31.

Preliminary publication of the voters list will be made on November 7 for inviting claims and objections till November 14 and it will be disposed of till November 17.

According to the schedule, supplementary lists will be prepared panchayat-wise on November 21 and it will be tallied with the main list on November 25. The final list will be published on November 27 by the Deputy District Election Officers. On the same day, the lists will be made available for sale.
