Larji hydro project irregularities to be probed

Shimla, Sep 25 (UNI) The irregularities committed in the execution of the Larji Hydro Project will be probed by the Himachal Pradesh Vigilance department.

The decision was taken by the state Cabinet which met here today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.

The Cabinet took this decision after discussing the report of the Himachal Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission, that had conducted an inquiry into the project.

The cabinet also approved setting up of Pithead Thermal Power Plant through a joint venture. This project shall be taken up with Union Government for the allocation of a coal mine to supply fuel for running the thermal plant, as per the centres policy of allocation of captive coal blocks to developers for generation of electricity.
