Kargil: Brajesh Mishra calls Musharraf a liar
New Delhi, Sep 25: Former National Security Adviser Brajesh Mishra today described as utter lies the claim by Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf that it was the Indian side which was trying to capture Pakistani posts in 1999 that led to the Kargil conflict.
''Whatever the General has said is nothing else but a tissue of lies. He and the Pakistani army were the aggressor, India retaliated, Pakistan was defeated and Musharraf was forced to go back,'' Mr Mishra told CNN-IBN in an interview.
He said the bonhomie being talked about between the two countries was an eyewash.
''I am not saying don't talk to him. But make sure that we talk to him only about terrorism. Not Kashmir, not anything else. The message must be sent to him loud and clear,'' he added.
Along with then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Mr Mishra was instrumental in redefining Indo-Pak relations when the NDA was in power from 1998 to 2003.
