IT Dept to recruit over 7,000 personnels

Bangalore, Sep 25: Union Minister of State for Finance S S Palanimanickam today informed that 7,050 personnel will be recruited for the Income Tax department within six months and the process has started.

Talking to newspersons here, he said he was against banning recruitment, especially in the Income Tax department which filled the country's exchequer.

Mr Palanimanickam said the Income Tax department had collected 35 per cent more than last year's amount, with the collections touching Rs 69,700 crore till September.

Earlier, the Minister laid the foundation stone for the Direct Taxes Regional Training Institute Complex, to be constructed at a cost of Rs 12 crore on the city outskirts.
