Haryana sets up Vocational Training Information Centres

Chandigarh, Sep 25 (UNI) The Haryana government has set up Vocational Training Information Centres in 233 villages of the state to provide information regarding various employment opprotunities to the unemployed youth.

An official spokesman said in order to meet the increasing demand of manpower in the foreign countries, especially in West Asia, the government had established an Overseas Employment Bureau to provide information and guidance for employment to the skilled and unskilled technicians, Information Technology (IT) professionals, engineers and doctors.

He further said Rs ten lakh had been earmarked for the year 2006-07 for the purpose. A Society had been set up which had got a registration certificate from the Protector General Emigrants, New Delhi to work as a recruiting agent for the Bureau.

The Overseas Placement Bureau had been working to get all the information regarding the vacancies available with the foreign employers, he added.

He said 22 Vocational Guidance Centres at district headquarters of the main towns and universities of the state were already working. These centres were providing vocational information through seminars, vocational week celebrations and talks from various experts on employment to the youth.
