GRCIIID to host event on eco tourism in November
Panaji, Sep 25 (UNI) Goa Regional Chapter of the Institute of Indian Interior Designers (GRCIIID) will host a week-long event on eco tourism from November 12, along a 7-km stretch from Sinqurim to Baga, in north Goa.
GRCIIID chairperson Rita Mody Joshi told reporters here today that Goa is recognised the world over as a popular tourist destination and eco tourism is gaining a lot of popularity.
She said the event is aimed at creating awarness about eco tourism among the general public.
Ms Joshi said the event will have a 7-point agenda that will focus, among other things, on recharging the water table, rain water harvesting, waste water managment and water conservation.
Man-made problems need man-made solutions, Ms Joshi pointed out while emphasising the need for scientific garbage disposal, reduction, reuse and recycling of plastic waste, use of alternative energy, and conservation of existing resources.
Competitions have been planned for school and college students as part of the event, Ms Joshi added.
