Diploma holder engineers oppose new service rule
Agartala, Sep 25 (UNI) Tripura Technical Employees Association, All Tripura Diploma Engineers Association and Power Engineers Association have jointly reacted to the recent change in the engineering sevice.
The three employees' organisation protested the government's decision to cut down eight per cent promotion from Junior Engineers (G-1) to Assistant Engineer, said Subrata Dutta Chaudhury General Secretary of the Power Engineers Association recently.
According to the new service rule, candidates having Bachelor in Engineering (BE) Degree will get direct entry in the Assistant Engineer's post while the remaining 80 per cent post will be filled through departmental promotion.
Under the new rule the scope for Diploma Engineers to opt for Asst. Engineer through promotion has been further slashed down from 48 per cent to 40 per cent while share for the candidates having BE degree has been increased from 52 to 60 per cent, he said.
With the new service rule coming into effect, the scope for Junior Engineers will further decrease, he pointed out.
Achinta Dutta Majumdar, General Secretary of All Tripura Diploma Engineers Association and Ratan Lal Saha, General Secretary of Tripura Technical Employees Association also asked the government not to implement the new service rule.
