Comprehensive health strategy prepared for Delhi: Shastri

New Delhi, Sep 25 (UNI) In an attempt to make primary healthcare services more broad-based, Delhi Health Minister Yoganand Shastri today said a comprehensive strategy has been prepared under the Delhi Health Mission as part of which societies under different programmes will be merged and resources pooled at the district level.

''The Delhi Health Mission will be modelled on the lines of the National Rural Health Mission launched by the Prime Minister,'' Dr Shastri said after inaugurating the Phase-III New Building of the Guru Nanak Eye Centre.

Dr Shastri said the Guru Nanak Eye Centre is one of the leading institutions in the ophthalmic care in Delhi and is providing the advanced eye care to the society.

''The Guru Nanak Eye Centre will also provide Post-Graduate and Under Graduate teaching to Delhi University, Aligarh Muslim University, Army Hospital and Ganga Ram Hospital, he added.

The centre under its programme of community ophthalmology is providing doorstep services to the rural areas for which it has also adopted Barwala Village to make it cataract free in the future, the Health Minister said.
