CM arrives at Tirumala on two-day visit

Tirupati, Sep 25 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy arrived here today on a two-day visit to the temple town.

The Chief Minister would offer prayers at the temple and present 'pattu vastrams' to Lord Sri Venkateswara for the 'Brahmotsavam'.

He would release ' Andhra Maha Bharatham', published by the TTD tomorrow.

In view of his visit, the Police had beefed up security arrangements in and around Tirumala.

Meanwhile, the nine-day annual 'Brahmotsavam' began with religious fervor this evening.

The festival began with performing of the traditional hoisting of the temple flag at the scheduled auspicious time.

The priests performed several poojas amidst chanting of vedic hymns from 1745 hours and hoisted the flag at ' meena lagnam'.
