Arms and ammunition recovered in Kashmir
Srinagar, Sep 25 (UNI) Security forces unearthed two major hideouts and recovered Arms and ammunition in the Kashmir valley today, a defence ministry sopokesman said.
He said on a specific information an army column was launched in the woods of Soekhal in south Kashmir district of Pulwama today around 0800 hours.
After searching the area for about four hours, the troops busted a well camouflaged hideout deep under the woods and recovered one UBGL, one 7.62mm universal machine gun, 1570 rounds of ammunition, 30 UBG rounds, four rocket propelled grenade rounds, nine rocket propelled grenade boosters, 10 high explosive rockets, seven hand grenades, two remote control improvised explosive devices, one radio set and eight magzaines.
He said with the busting of this hideout and recovery of large cache of arms and explosives, a major incident by the militants was averted.
In a similar operation the troops recovered arms buried under ground and wrapped in polythene covered with gunny bags in Drata forest near Tangdhar in North Kashmir today.
Giving details of the cache, the spokesman said troops recovered two AK rifles, seven magazines, 243 rounds, two pistol, four pistol magazines, 13 pilstol ammunition, two radio set, five hand grenades, five UBGL rounds and four rockets propelled grenade rounds during the search operation in Drata forest today.
