Administration gears up for peaceful bandh
Puducherry, Sep 25 (UNI) The Puducherry administration is gearing up the official machinery to tackle the dawn-to-dusk bandh called by the JIPMER anti-conversion peoples action committee here tomorrow to protest against the granting of autonomous status to centrally administered hospitals.
Addressing a joint press conference district collector Theva Neethi Das and senior Superintendent of Police B Srikanth said that the government would not allow the normal life of the people to be affected, and stringent action would be taken against those who indulge in any violence.
All precautinary measures were taken to keep all the government offices and schools functioning as usuall and the buses would also ply normally.
About 600 police constables, 100 officers and 200 home guards would be deployed for duty tomorrow, they added.
