8 convicted, one acquitted in a multi-crore fodder scam case

Ranchi, Sep 25 (UNI) A special CBI court today convicted eight accused, including a former official of Animal Husbandry Department, in a case of the multi-crore Fodder scam.

Judge Sanjay Prasad today convicted the eight accused and acquitted one Vinod Kumar Jha in the illegal withdrawal of government funds amounting to more than Rs 49 lakh from the Dumka treasury in undivided Bihar.

The court while acquitting Mr Jha, however, found his wife Rekha Jha guilty in the case no. Rc 40A/96.

The list of convicted included a former Animal Husbandry official Hemendra Nath Verma.

The term of sentence would be announced tomorrow.

A Chargesheet was filed against twelve people in this case of whom one was absconding while two died during the trial.

On September 23, the CBI court convicted 28 accused, including a former regional director of Animal Husbandry department, in a case of the multi-crore Fodder scam.

Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and former Chief Minister of Bihar Jagganath Mishra are among the accused in the case.
