12-member Judo team for Asian Games
Patiala, Sep 25 (UNI) A 12-member team, comprising six boys and as many girls, has been selected to represent India in the Doha Asian Games in December.
The trials were held here at the NIS yesterday to select the Judokas.
Judo Federation of India (JFI) secretary-general Mukesh Kumar, who was present during the trials, chaired the selection committee meeting immediately after the trials.
Talking to UNI he exuded confidence that the team would win a medal or two in Doha.
The Judokas were likely to go abroad for training and exposure, he said and added that the names of the coaches, who will accompany the contingent, were yet to be announced.
The team: Boys Navjot Chana 60kg, Parminder Singh 66 kg, Virender Singh 73 kg, Sahil Pathania 81 kg, Anil Kumar 90 kg, and Sanjoy Singh 100 kg.
Girls Bembem Devi 48 kg, Anita Chana 52 kg, Nirupama 57 kg, Landhoni Devi 63 kg, Jeena Devi 70 kg, and Devia 78 kg.
