Sushma avoids comment on bypoll nominees

Bhopal, Sep 24 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and former Union minister Sushma Swaraj today said the party's election committee would select candidates for byelection to the Vidisha Lok Sabha seat and Malehra assembly seat.

Speaking at the BJP's state office, Ms Swaraj pointed out that the Centre's Vande Mataram Centenary Celebration Committee determined the date -- September 7 -- for mass singing of the National Song on the basis of the centenary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore's rendering at the INC's Calcutta (now Kolkata) session, a release said.

''However, it is not proper to restrict Vande Mataram to any particular date,'' felt the Rajya Sabha Member who also interacted with Mahila Morcha members.
