SPO among two slain by naxals

Jagdalpur, Sep 24 (UNI) A Special Police Officer was among two persons slain by naxals in Chhattisgarh's Bastar division overnight, police said.

Former Orchha Janpad Panchayat President and Congress leader Santuram Usendi was en route to Narayanpur from Orchha in a bus this morning. As the vehicle halted near Dhanora village, the rebels -- wearing school uniforms -- opened fire and fled. Mr Usendi succumbed while being rushed to Bhanupur for treatment.

SPO Koyam Bijja, stationed in Dantewara district, was beaten and fatally stabbed last night while asleep in Veerabhatti village.
